Varietal: 100% Valdiguié
Alcohol: 12%
Vineyard: Green Valley Vineyard, located in Solano County, nestled between Napa and the Suisun Valley. This is a new site for me and I am in love. I’ve been trying to work with vineyards as close to the winery as possible and this is only 35 minutes away or so. It was planted in the late 80’s and is farmed organically.
Vinification: I made this wine the harvest following a wine trip to France to visit with winemakers across the country. Inspired by their hands off carbonic techniques, this one started out sealed and tucked away. After a few days my anxiety got the best of me and I opened up the tanks, did a food tread and started daily pumpovers for a little over a week. Pressed and racked to neutral French oak barrels where it rested until bottling.
The Wine: Light, bright and punchy. It’s full of zesty, tart cherries and pomegranate.
