Varietal: 100% Valdiguié
Alcohol: 12.5%
Vineyard: Lolonis Vineyard in Redwood Valley, Mendocino. The Lolonis vineyard is currently owned and operated by Athan Poulos. The vineyard was established in 1920 by their ancestors Tryfon and Eugenia Lolonis. It has always been farmed organically and is certified CCOF.
Vinification: Fruit was picked early in the morning and made its way down from Redwood Valley to the winery in Berkeley being hauled by yours truly. Destemmed with daily pumpovers throughout fermentation. Pressed and racked to neutral French oak barrels where it rested for 10 months in barrel prior to bottling.
The Wine: This is very near and dear to my heart as it is the only red wine that I make. In 2021, I was only able to make one barrel, in 2022 I was able to make five! It’s full of zesty, tart cherries and pomegranate.
